There are so many posthumous Hendrix recordings out there it borderlines on blasphemy. The novice Hendrix listener might not "experience" Jimi Hendrix for what he really was...one, if not the greatest, rock guitarists of all time. For those who are just getting into what Hendrix was about, this album is NOT for you. Grab "Are You Experienced", "Axis Bold As Love" and
Electric Ladyland". Trust me, those albums will BLOW YOUR MIND! "Valleys Of Neptune" however, is an album for the truly devoted Hendrix fan. What I like most about this album is it's rawness. It's like being in the studio with Hendrix while he's just having fun and jamming. And who wouldn't want to buy THAT ticket? The sound quality is superb, and the basic tracks haven't been ruined like some other posthumous releases, like on "Crash Landing" and "Midnight Lightning", where random studio musicians actually OVERDUBBED over the original tracks. (Alan Douglas...you should be ashamed of yourself.) On this album however, I'm glad this has been released, and I do not feel like it's a rip-off to make money. There is quality stuff here.
Track By Track:
1.) Stone Free - Basicly an alternate version of the original. I prefer the original, but this is a fun and interesting listen.
2.) Valleys Of Neptune - I'm not a fan of this song, and I doubt it would ever have been released on an actual Hendrix approved album. If so, it would have been MUCH more orchestrated, perhaps like 1983 (A Merman I Should Turn To Be) from Electric Ladyland. Still, it's great hearing Hendrix' in his writing process.
3.) Bleeding Heart - I LOVE THIS VERSION. It's the best studio version I've heard. The version from "War Heroes" just didn't have the bite and rawness that this classic blues tune deserves. Hendrix kicks into this version hard and heavy from the start. Fantastic guitar work here, and a great variation on the original vocal approach.
4.) Hear My Train A Comin' - Most Hendrix fans will tell you Hendrix' 12 string acoustic version is the best, and they would be correct...but this electric version is really nice also. I have a version from a live LP called "The Jimi Hendrix Concerts" that I feel is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but this is a great listen as well, and once again the guitar playing is other-worldly.
5.) Mr. Bad Luck - There was another version of this song called "Look Over Yonder". I'm not a fan of this song or either version. This is not Hendrix' best song writing by a long shot, but still...it's Jimi Hendrix on guitar.
6.) Sunshine Of Your Love - Hendrix was a major Clapton fan and he did this song instrumentally with The Experience many times live, and it was a staple of his live shows. It's finally nice to hear a studio jam of this song. It has become my favorite version, and the guitar playing is VERY NICE!
7.) Lover Man - Again, a song Hendrix performed live many times. This studio take is nothing short of amazing, and is a fresh approach to the song. Again, it has become my favorite version.
8.) Ships Passing In The Night - This is actually a slowed down bluesy version of "Night Bird Flying", but only a true Hendrix head would hear that. Again...this has become my favorite version of "Night Bird Flying". Why it's called "Ships Passing In The Night" on the album is beyond me. I'm hoping they didn't change the name to make it seem like a new song. It isn't, but it IS a totally different approach to the way "Night Bird Flying" was eventually released.
9.) Fire - Nice alternate version, and GREAT drumming, but the original is much better.
10.) Red House - I have a plethora of "Red House" live versions, and they all bring something unique to the table. This alternate studio version is very nice also, with some great blues licks of course, but with no real new surprises. The major problem with this version is that the final verse is faded out, without any "I know her sister will!" lyric at all. Highly anti-climatic to say the least.
11.) Lullaby For Summer - Once again I am baffled why this song is named "Lullaby For Summer" on this album. It's basicly a jam based off the opening riff to "Ezy Rider", with some very cool hook riffs thrown in the middle section. The thing is...IT ABSOLUTELY ROCKS! "Ezy Rider" was never one of my favorite Hendrix songs, but I am BLOWN AWAY by this instrumental jam version! I can't praise it enough.
12.) Crying Blue Rain - A VERY nice bluesy jam. I love the guitar tone. The only drawback with this track is that I believe it loses it's "blues mood" when the band speeds it up towards the end. But still...just wonderful guitar playing.
Bonus Tracks:
13.) Trash Man - This is actually the instrumental "Midnight" sped up just a bit. Great licks and a nice version...but the original has much more feel in my opinion.
14.) Slower Version - A nice instrumental jam. However, the sound quality doesn't seem to match the rest of the album, and the guitar tone seems very overdriven. Still, Hendrix' guitar playing shines brightly on this track.
There will probably be more posthumous releases to follow, but who knows if there will EVER be another Jimi Hendrix CD release of unreleased material as strong as this one. So to me, it's like Christmas came early. I hope this review helps in You decide to buy this CD. You of the classic Hendrix คุณ จะ ชอบ ก็ กระตือรือร้น ที่ จะ ฟัง มาก ขึ้น ผม ขอ แนะนำ ให้ คุณ ซื้อ อัลบั้ม นี้ วัน นี้ if!

I think it's important to understand that this is the closest thing to what Jimi had intended to release in 1971 as the follow-up to the seminal Electric Ladyland album of 1968...
Having said that I have to say that I think this is the most impressive material of his career. These are the tightest batch of songs he recorded in that none of them are too long and all have tremendous hooks and content. The performances here are considerably better than past recordings due in part to the fact these are musicians who have played and toured together for successive years and are litterally at the top of their game. AND IT SHOWS!!! Hendrix's vocals are more controlled and less gimicky and he displays a lot more vocal range in general than before. His guitar parts are more structured and intricate. His solos less sloppy and more developed. His overall aura more tightly defined. And let's face it. Noel Redding wasn't the most impressive bass player (he was actually a guitar player by trade) and hearing Billy Cox on bass here makes you realize that Hendrix's material is far more fluid and soulful w/ him in the mix. Also, the production quality of the overall sound is better than his previous efforts. So much of it was recorded at his newly built Electric Lady Studios the Summer of 1970 and the fact that they were able to utilize the most state-of-the-art and up to date recording equipment is obvious when you hear the results.
It may be silly to say since Jimi Hendrix has become a bigger rock star since his death, but had he lived and kicked-off the decade w/ this release he would have owned the 70's. Zeppelin? Sure they were huge then but he would have been THE rock star defining the decade, Im sure of it.
Just have a listen to "Freedom" w/ it's locked-in beat, searing, white hot guitar licks, and Jimi's soulful vocal delivery. THAT is rock n' roll. "Izabella" continues right where "Freedom" leaves off and that's a good thing because "Freedom" seems way too short. "Dolly Dagger" and "Ezy Rider" are just pure ear candy. "Stepping Stone" has some of the hottest guitar licks ever recorded. Period. Just listen to the outro solo. "My Friend" is a pleasant surprise w/ it's Dylan-esque vocals and overall vibe. "In From The Storm" slams you over the head from the first notes of the guitar riff w/ it's dramatic hard rock delivery. The CD ends w/ the mellow blues of "Belly Button Window" and it's incredibly creative and sensitive Music, drummer Mitch Mitchell's view of the unborn child.
I think this was first included in the CD - ROM, issued in 1997 to understand, but it's all mine, I'm blown away .... Have to say that the first

The duo's second album will be released, She & Him, consisting of actress Zooey Deschanel was a musician and M. Ward, March 17, 2010 by Merge Records.
Before Thieves (4:08) - From the first notes, you know, this album is not much of a change from the previous one. Also note that the voice has improved, and Zooey Deschanel flows naturally more than it did the first album. The instrumentals seem sharper and M. Ward sings on this album more than evident from its carrierVocals.
According to The Sun (2:51) - Only for you this song will be fun, and it is. And 'the beginning of the track on the disc, and my absolute favorite. Zooey voice is so smooth and shiny made its way through the chorus, with backing vocals, this time with special guests Tilly and the Wall are available. M. 'S equipment, the most fun song.
Third Do not Look Back (3:23) - This is one of the best top notes of each of She & Him.Why? And 'one of the best songs, She & Him! While the chorus is by far the best to shine the verses perfectly, with the lyrics and the voice of Zooey, along with instrumental M 'S. Definite Favorite!
Fourth Ridin 'In My Car (3:15) - a cover of a song NRBQ 60s, She & Him spice it up a notch with the composition of fire. Not the best of the disc, but not the worst. Unusually, it is better than the original!
Persistent fifth Still (3:02) - This is a strange song, asThe article is influenced pop, but the instrumentals are played in each case with a heavy country vibe. It, however, appear to be a fantastic song deserves, and his place as one of the best album. Towards the end, the song slows down for a few seconds and then gradually picks up speed as they are playing M. Finally, cooperation with Zooey singing until the end of the song.
Sixth Me and You (3:20) - right off the bat, you can say to slow things up a bit '. Ethey do. Zooey sings a (I assume the former) lover "has got to be kind to you." M. provides backing vocals again. It seems that her voice is much more on Volume Two used, as was the first volume, and better.
Seventh Skirt Along Without You Now (2.32 Get) - things that the speed of a little harmony Zooey 'here and then singing the song. Zooey, in turn, provides the vocals here, what level of a break. There's a lot to this song, but it isa relaxing melody.
8th Home (4:41) - The longest song She & Him were recorded, is certainly a big one. The vocal and instrumental parts seem really seem in this issue, as if she and he tries something they have to prove definitively. Nothing much else to say, beautiful song.
Nono I'm Gonna Make It Better (3:31) - Most of the country song as the album has some of the best texts on the album. "It closes the circle, then everythingFalling down on you "and" faces are not always what they seem, as some examples.
10th Sing (3:13) - The only reference in one of these songs is a modern one: "Sitting at home and watch Cribs" seems out of place in a song strongly Influenced by the songs from the '50s, before television Were around, let alone MTV. Zooey is his smokiest in this song by a mysterious aura, his voice.
11 Over It Again (3:30) - The song remembers Volume One songsFeel should have heard the first album. It 's probably my least favorite on the album, but still a decent length. Zooey sings kind of whining in this song, and not just for their work.
12 ° Brand New Shoes (3:04) - The slowest song on the disc, and probably my favorite. He sang in a different way than any other song She & Him, but like the others, and is really impressive.
13 13 If you can not sleep (2:49) - The last track begins with some gentleSums of Zooey and M., and leads the song is slow like a lullaby, and sounds like everything. A full closure of Nice.
A statement that their first solid, half past four this worthy of five stars.
She & Him - Volume Two Features
- Pop, Rock

I first heard this track, pretty much as is in the early 90's on Timelines, and since then have been wondering why it wasn't on any of the newer releases. It is a great song from a great time period for Jimi, and even though it probably isn't as finished as he would like it, it is still a great song. The 45 itself is very nice, if not a little pricey (anyone remember when 45s were .99-1.99?), and for the collector worthwhile.
